The forgotten "Snack"

Over the past few years, my Step-Gpa goes through different phases of chips. One of our favorites was the Lays Hickory Chips. It was great! A few weeks ago, when I arrived at their home, my daughter ran right into the kitchen to see what treats he had, and low and behold, he had Bugles. Ahhh Bugles.

Growing up, every once in a while we had the pleasure of eating Bugles. We loved putting a piece on each of our fingers pretending we had long witch nails. They were/are not only good tasting, but fun to play with! They have always been my favorite.

However, I always have forgotten about them. Case in point, I've been wanting to write this blog at least 10 different times in the last week, but have always forgotten. For some reason unknown to myself, Bugles are so good, but so easily forgotten. I think I've figured out why.

When you go to the grocery store to pick up a bag of Bugles, where do you find them? I made it a point to look at three different stores this past week. They aren't a chip and they are not a cracker. They are just.... BUGLES.... a corn snack. In each store, you find them in different spots, or just not at all. When you do find them, they are typically on the very bottom shelf towards the back. Very frustrating.

So here's to you, Bugles, oh yummy corn stack and cool nail toy of my child hood. I deem today official BUGLE AWARENESS DAY. Bugle aware away!

Why?

This evening I went to Wal*Mart to spend a gift certificate. I walked around, and walked around. Found some great clearance things (woohoo!), and then veered over to get conditioner. Holy hannah! There are so many different conditioners! I read through everyone, it took about 15 minutes. Finally after deciding on a good conditioner, I went to the haid clip section one aisle over. What? Something caught my eye. I turned around, and there... the hair coloring section. Oh no, this NEVER turns out good. Ever. So I walked away. Do not be proud, for I turned back around. Picked out a color, but then put it back. Decided on highlights, but put it back because I convinced myself it was too expensive. But look! Look a little lower! There was a much CHEAPER highlighting color. It ended up in my cart. Ah shoot. I imagine I will have uneven orange highlights tomorrow. It will be great.

So Wickedly Wicked

In January I thought that I would get tickets to see Wicked, however it never panned out, so I figured if I did not know what I was missing, no big deal, right? Wellllll....

Saturday around 11am I received a call from a friend asking if I wanted to go see Wicked at 2pm. Hello! YES YES YES!!!
Oh my GOSH!! Let me tell you, I will never look at The Wizard of Oz the same!! I loved Wicked!! It was fantastic! Music phenomenal! Costumes, lighting... amazing!! Acting incredible! Very well done! Moral to the musical? Never judge a book by its cover, and you never know the whole story. It was the perfect way to end my Winter Term.

Now, what is going through my mind as we listen to the sound track? How am I going to go see Wicked again before it leaves Portland on April 5th?? LOL!!!

In other news, the Winter Term is OVER!!! Final grades should be posted any time now. I should be getting A in Sociology, A in Small Groups Communications and an A- in Health. BAH! Stinkin' A-!! That's ok, better than a B, right?? Spring Term starts April 6th. My schedule is mostly set. I am on the waiting list for one class, so I've signed up for another class, with the intention of dropping it if (when!) I can get into the waiting list class. This next term is going to be a bit more difficult then last. Should be entertaining!

Alright, I'm off to defy gravity!

edit: to defy gravity? That made no sense, other than an innuendo towards Wicked. Yes, I realize it was a lame way to end the post. Next time, it will be something better.

PS - Apologies to the people on Saturday who were unintentionally blown off and to the girls game night group who waited on me. The play was SO good!! I know you'd all jump at it, too! LOL!!! Cookies for all!

So close...

THIS comes out Saturday... but I cannot get THIS for another week. AHHH!! What am I to do?? I guess sitting watching THIS over the next week over and over again is not in the cards.

In other news... that is not THIS, I am officially done with Winter Term, and am waiting for my last class to give me a grade. WOOHOO!! Yay for Spring Break... but boo for not getting THIS until Spring Break is half over. *LOL*

HEAR YE!! HEAR YE!!!

It is with great procrastination power that I announce to you that I am a mere three papers away from being done with Spring Quarter.

Yes, a mere three papers that are all due in the next day or two.

A mere three papers that I should be writing right now, but feel it is far more important to blog and let all you out there in blog-tastic land that I have only a mere three papers left before it is officially spring break for me.

So now, as I am trying to think up what more to write, I am now going to start on those mere three papers.

Thank you for your time.

New funnies

While studying hard with my Sociology group for our upcoming presentation, we veered onto Youtube (right, studying SO hard) and my friend instroduced us to Paul Hunt. Be entertained:

Artist to raise $15 Million

Finally... the cure for cancer has been found, yet isn't it funny how a simple little thing, such as money, is what is causing the delay? Read this press release, and than look at the eBay auction. Amazing!!!
Feel free to link this blog, copy, forward on, anything! It only takes one person with the right connection to be able to help!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Famous Sculptor seeks to raise $15 Million for small Cancer Research
company by selling her Wax Sculpting of "Mary and the Christ Child" on eBay.
Vancouver, WA. - February 27, 2009 - During Cindy McClure's career
as a sculptor, she created a wax sculpting of Mary and the Christ
Child which was displayed at various exhibitions during 1998. the
piece was nominated and won international awards, and then returned to
the Artist. This work of art has been stored away for the past eleven
years and is now being offered for sale on eBay in hopes of a miracle,
an angel willing to purchase a work of art, knowing ultimately that
the proceeds may in turn produce a medical miracle for mankind.
Scheduled to appear on eBay February 26, 2009 at 7:30 PST, use key
words Cindy McClure Original Wax, to view the listing.
Dr. Shayne Squires, President of SquiCor LLC, made a significant
discovery; he discovered a new class of molecules that bind
specifically to cancer cells and not to normal cells. Not only do
these molecules attach to the surface of cancer cells, the cancer
cells internalize them (suck them in)! These molecules attach to Lung,
breast, colon, prostate and pancreatic cancers, and many more.
One of the most challenging factors for him is the "believability"
factor. How is it possible that a medical miracle could come from a
small company...........he needs help to prove that it can.
Famous Sculptor and Artist, Cindy M McClure and her husband committed
to financing this small laboratory, buying necessary equipment and
hiring employees capable of doing this type of research along with Dr
Squires. Patents have been filed and the work is well into preclinical
trials.
Last fall the company received additional funding commitments to help
get the research to human trials, an expense far beyond their personal
capability. However, the funding commitments fell apart in conjunction
with the banking and economic crisis. Although currently the company
has several prospective investors, time sensitive deadlines are fast
approaching for the final International Patent filings as well as
simply having the finances to stay in business.
Cindy McClure comments, "Selling a piece of art for immediate cash
will fuel the company right now, bypassing the weeks of contract
preparations and astronomical attorney fees. Cancer does not wait; we
need to push forward as quickly as possible."
